About
Its mission is collecting, preserving, studying and disseminating Latin American art from the early twentieth century to the present. It also offers courses that examine art and literature and has a growing film library . As a world-renowned museum, the MALBA wouldn't be complete without its library, the restaurant that caters to hungry visitors and the shop where you can buy souvenirs from the typical items to contemporary design.
In the permanent exhibition rooms you can see pieces of Frida Kahlo, Wifredo Lam, Roberto Matta, Diego Rivera, Joaquín Torres-García, Antonio Berni, Emiliano Di Cavalcanti, Jorge de la Vega, Tarsila do Amaral, Pedro Figari, Lygia Clark, Helio Oiticica, Liliana Porter, Guillermo Kuitca and José Bedia Valdés, among others.
The building was designed by AFT architects. The project sought to integrate the building into the city and create an enabling environment to enjoy the artwork. The rooms are designed as "white boxes", without distractions, and illuminated by natural light, always taking into account the optimal conditions for the preservation of the art.
