Vienna is the capital and largest city of Austria. It is the centre of economic, cultural and politics of the country.

There are many places you can visit in Vienna. The city is rich and colourful. Thus, it ensures your stay to be exciting and wonderful.

Here’s your list of to see places.

1. Kunsthistorisches Museum – better known as the Museum Fine Arts. This is one of the world’s greatest art museums. It contains world-class exhibit of the Habsburgs’ art collection that includes Raphael, Titian, Caravaggio, Bosch and the Brueghel. The entrance is €10 (students €7.50 / map €0.50) – Picture Gallery daily except Monday 10AM–6PM, Thursday 10AM–9PM.

2. Schatzkammer – known as the Imperial Treasury. Locates in the Neue Hofburg and an absolute must see in Vienna. The Museum contains precious jewels, crowns and other valuables present in the continent. Entrance is at €7.

3. The New Palace – contains the Ethnological Museum and three branches of the Museum of Fine Arts. You will find the Collection of Historical Musical Instruments from the Asia Minor and has the second largest collection of jewels in the world.

4. Albertina – the most popular exhibition space in Vienna. It is home to valuable drawing collections that include the works of art by the German Renaissance painter Durer. You can visit the museum for only €9.50.

5. The Belvedere – the summer residence of Prince Eugene of Savoy. The Orangerie houses the temporary exhibits and collection of medieval tapestries. It is open for public viewing from 10:00am until 12 noon and entrance is at €13.50.

6. Mozart House – located east of the cathedral and is the Viennese residence of Austria’s most famous composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. For more information, you can call +43 (1) 512 17 91 91. Plan your visit any day of the week from 10am-7pm.

7. Schloss Schonbrunn – an exhilarating castle in Vienna. It holds many of the pasts exciting happenings which include the meeting of John F. Kennedy and Nikita Khrushchev. You can visit the palace anytime of the year. However, bear in mind that no photos, videotaping or backpacks allowed inside.

8. Hofburg Palace – a total knockout and a must see place! Open daily from 9am-5pm.
