Sao Paolo is the most populous and largest city in Brazil. The city with the most intense nightlife and cultural experience. Sao Paolo is known to be one of the richest cities in the world.

The city of diversity has a lot to teach us. The largest Japanese population outside Japan could be found here in Sao Paolo as well as the Arabs, Italians and Jewish. Brazilians are lovely and friendly at all times. In some areas, Italian, Spanish and English are well spoken.

Places to visit in Sao Paolo:

Banespa Tower – located on Rua Joao Bricola, 24, Centro. Sao Bento Metro Station. This is a good place to observe the scenic view of Sao Paolo for free, Monday-Friday from 10am-5pm. You can observe from the 34th floor which is 160m above the ground. Aside from being the tallest building in town a small museum could be found at the top of the building as well. Restaurant Skye – located at Hotel Unique, Avenida Brigadeiro Luiz Antonio, 4700. They serve luscious food at the rooftop where you can enjoy the view for free while dining.

Sao Paolo Jockey Club – Av. Lineu de Paula Machado, 1263. The couple of bars and restaurants give a great view of the River Pinheiros. Come here at 6pm for the best view at night. Entrance is free.

Museu da Casa Brasileira – located on Avenida Brigadeiro Faria Lima. For more information you can contact +55(11) 3032 3727.

Monumento as Bandeiras – located on Parque Ibirapuera.

House of Palomino – located on Rua Mourato, Coelho, 790.

Consolacao Cemitery – located on Rua da Consolacao. This cemetery displays beautiful sculptures on the names of famous Brazilian society, in the early of 20th century.

University of Sao Paolo – the most important university in Brazil. They have the largest campus on Butanta which is called Cidade Universitaria.

Fundacao Maria Luisa e Oscar Americano – located on Avenida Morumbi, 4077. This is a place where you can learn everything about tea. You can drink, see sculptures and keep in touch with nature. For more information, you can call +55(11) 3742 0077

Instituto Butanta – located on Vital Brasil. This is a place where you will find Latin America’s largest collection of snakes and reptiles. A good place for the children to learn more about animals. For more information, you can contact +55(11) 3726 7222.

Palacio dos Bandeirantes – located on Avenida Morumbi. This is the seat of government in Sao Paolo. This palace is built on a cliff overlooking Morumbi. For more information, you can call +55(11) 2193 8282.

Ibarapuera Park – the most visited leisure park in Sao Paolo. This is best place to walking, jogging, biking and enjoy nature. Young and old loves the place. Aside from the above activities, you can also visit the Modern Art Museum, Biennial Art Exhibition, Oca Art Exhibition and the Japanese Pavilion. To come here, go to nearest Metro down the Rua Sena Madureira or take a 20 minutes’ walk through the Brigadeiro Luiz Antonio Ave.

City Zoo – this a good place to take the children for a weekend. They will learn more about the animals and plants present in Sao Paolo. The zoo is open every Tuesday-Sunday from 9am to 4:30pm. To come here, take the Metro Jabaquara station where a shuttle bus will take you straight to the place.

Playcenter – located on Rua Jose Gomez Falcao, Barra Funda Metro Station. T his is the city’s main amusement park, where you can enjoy many rides, shows, and places to eat.

City Aquarium – located on RUa Huet Bacelar, 407, Ipiranga. This place like the city zoo is the best place to bring the kids over a weekend to learn more about other species. They are open every Monday-Friday from 8am-8pm and 10am-8pm every Saturday and Sunday. Entrance is R$25. For more information contact, +55(11) 2273 5500.

Hopi Hari – located on Rodovia dos Bandeirantes, Vinhedo. This a big theme park located in the heart of Vinhedo, an hour ride from Sao Paolo. They have many rides to enjoy from the youngsters and the oldies. Entrance fee is R$49. For more information contact, +55 300 789 5566.

Wet’n Wild Sao Paolo – located on Rodovia dos Bandeirantes, Itupeva. A chain of the American Wet’n Wild beside Hopi Hari. If you come here on a weekday, tickets are sold at R$32.50 and on a weekend they are sold at R$65. For more information call, +55(11) 4496 8000.


How to get there

Getting around is easy. There is transportation everywhere.

Bus – this is the most popular way to get around. Ticket is at R$2.30 one way.

Subway – there are 5 colors that indicate the route you are going to. One trip ticket is available at $2.55

São Paulo has three major airports: Guarulhos International (GRU) and Viracopos (CPQ) for international and some domestic arrivals, and Congonhas (CGH) for most medium and short haul domestic flights.

There are also metered taxis all over the town. Basically, all means are available whether you go around by foot, bicycle or rent a car in Sao Paolo. I bet you will enjoy this place and will surely want to go back again.
