About

Velingrad is located in the Rodopi mountain, about 120 km southeast of Sofia. Legends narrate that once upon a time Orpheus lived in this area.

Places of interest
The main reason you may want to come to Velingrad are the numerous mineral water springs, which are transformed into modern baths where you can take a water-cure or just relax.
There is also a huge cold water spring, which issues 1200 liters of water every second. The water forms two beautiful lakes surrounded by an evergreen pine-tree forest. The locals called this park Kleptuza. A wonderful place for a walk!
You can visit some cultural and historical places around or ride a bicycle or a horse in the surroundings as well.

Climate
Most of the time the weather is sunny and mild. As it is a mountain town the summer is cool and pleasant and the winter is long and with a lot of snow.
