Vitosha, a glance

A stony river

One of the most visited mountains in Bulgaria. Its highest peak is Cherni Vrah with an altitude of 2290 m.

Places of interest
There are many tourist routes with good marks to follow. The tourist paths start from Boyana, Dragalevtsy, Simeonovo and Bistrica. You can also reach some areas in the mountain by bus or by lift - the Aleko, Zlatnite mostove, some other huts and places.

You will surely encounter at least one of the multiple areas of huge stones which have piled up like stony rivers thousands of years ago.

Climate
It is cool and sunny in the summer, and cold in the winter with a lot of snow. In the spring and early summer there are often pouring rains with thunderstorms.


Always check the weather forecast before going to the mountain and be sure to take the appropriate equipment with you.
You can go by bus from Hladilnika or Ovcha Kupel bus stations, or you can take a lift from Simeonovo or Dragalevtsy.
