About

Athabasca Falls is probably the most well-known and most visited waterfall in the quadrant of Western Canadian parks (Jaspar, Banff, Yoho, Kootenay).

It's not my favorite, because it's not very high. I like its location though. Sometimes, you want to take grandma to see "the nature." But grandma can't walk very far, or if she could, you worry about her safety. Well, you can literally drive up to this waterfall, and it's about 1 mile off the main highway. Maybe less, so no motion sickness. Plus, it's a fantastically powerful waterfall with lots of interesting rocks, and the government did a great job creating a 360 degree view point. Be warned though it is very touristy because of its accessibility.

How to get there

South of Jaspar town on the Icefield Parkway.
