About

Lake Louise is located within Banff National Park in Alberta, Canada. It's a large glacial lake, which really means the water is this cloudy icy blue from all the minerals, and there are lots of oddly shaped boulders nearby. Remember once upon a time a glacier came and carved this valley.

Lake Louise is globally known for its beauty, its crowds, and its very expensive hotel, the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise. Because it's easily accessible to tour buses, there are activities for all ages and abilities at the Lake. You've got a paved trail running around the lake. You've got dirt hiking trails running above. You can go canoeing on the lake for some insane amount of money. You could also have tea in the Chateau, in a room overlooking the Lake.

It's well worth visiting just for the sheer beauty of the lake and hotel, even w/all the crowds.

How to get there

Parking is difficult so try to arrive either early or late after the sun sets. It's located off the Trans Canadian Hwy within Banff. You need to pay the fee to enter Banff Nat'l Park, and Lake Louise comes with admission. Keep it mind it gets chilly even in summer.
