Granville Island

Granville Island is this tiny place located underneath industry. Well not exactly. But it's located underneath various bridges and highways right outside downtown Vancouver.

It's a collection of artsy shops aimed at tourists, little museums, and most importantly, one of the best public markets in the world. It's an indoor market with various food vendors. Food loosely defined as raw produce, prepared foods of all ethnicities, candy, tea, and coffee vendors. All of it is top quality and ultra fresh. I'm even going to say that I liked this market more than the farmer's market in SF.

The market itself is packed and if you buy to eat on the spot, hope you can snag a table. I'd tell you to picnic outside, but it's Vancouver and well, it rains a lot.


Granville island is within Vancouver. You can either ferry over from downtown, or drive. I don't recommend driving because there's not much parking on the island itself, and only slightly more in the surrounding neighborhoods.
