About
It's located within Yoho National Park, near Banff and Jaspar Parks, 11 km off the main road on a restricted travel path. This means Canada Parks actively controls how many people a day can visit the lake, keeping down human interference/excessive crowds. As a result, you get a really pristine and exclusive experience.
Once at the lake, there's a variety of hiking trails and nature activities. There's also lodging at the Lake O'Hara lodge (make reservations in advance). Keep in mind that it's an isolated area (you have to take a bus!), so remember to bring food, sunscreen, and warm clothing.
How to get there
2) You can make reservations to take a bus up the road. Reservations can be made here up to 3 months in advance, but must be made because there are limited spots. Remember to catch the bus coming back.
I *think* aside from the Lodge, you can only camp up at the Lake.
For non-Canadians, the parks are generally open June-Sept. Past that date range, it gets rainy/cold/snows!
