About
1) It's in disrepair in large sections. As a visitor, it's not physically possible to traverse the entire wall.
2) Similarly, tourists can visit certain sections, but they aren't connected, so you'll need to transport yourself from site to site.
3) The stairs are steep and well worn, often crowded with people of varying walking/goating abilities.
4) People urinate in the guard tower portions and the bathrooms themselves are disgusting.
5) It's very touristy, but not with foreign tourists, but with Chinese tourists. Remember China's a big populous country (like the US) and this is one of their most well known landmarks.
6) Despite all the cons, it's still a must see. It's remarkably beautiful in its broken down deserted state. It makes you gasp and think how they built it. And even with the worn steps and all the tourists and the knowledge that so many died in its construction, it's still an architectural marvel.
