Yuyuan Garden
About
So there's such a thing as a Chinese style garden. No, it's not a Japanese garden, it's Chinese. Not a whole lot exist any more, destroyed in the Cultural Revolution and what not, but in Shanghai, you can find the Yuyuan Garden. It's well preserved, well-maintained now that China realizes the monetary benefits of tourism, and really worth visiting.
I recommend going just to see a difference between Japanese gardens (bridges and bonsai) and Chinese gardens (traditional Chinese architecture and rocks with lots of holes).
How to get there
You can hire an English speaking guide to help you navigate your way around Shanghai. Be careful to make sure they're licensed by the tourism bureau.
