About
Nature is one of the most important attractions. The Peñas Blancas Massif is part of the Bosawás Biosphere Reserve, and it houses both cloud forests and rainforests. Additionally, there are rocky cliffs, stunning waterfalls, massive ferns, and a huge diversity of orchids, in addition to magnificent wildlife including tapirs, coatimundi, and you can also find pumas.
Besides hiking, climbing and exploring the region’s extraordinary natural settings, visitors can also enjoy delicious, local food when staying in one of the rural communities in the area. Observing the everyday life of farmers in this region can also be fascinating, and by visiting the Peñas Blancas Massif and by staying in such a distant, rural community tourists can take a peek into the rustic but definitely out of the ordinary Nicaraguan countryside life. Coffee producers can also be visited to learn more about the coffee production.
