About
Weather
Costa has only two seasons, most prominently noticeable in the summer. During the evenings, the temperature can drop to 15 °C with high winds on the shores. Although the area is tropical, some cities can be quite cold. Bring the right clothes depending on the place you are visiting.
Safety
The people in Costa Rica are very friendly. However, locals may provide answers to questions they don't know simply out of politeness. It's recommended to get more than one answer when asking directions. Also, many streets have no names, and directions are often given in reference to well-known landmarks.
Currency
The official currency in Costa Rica is the colon, although some establishments accept American dollars. Money can be exchanged at either banks or on streets, but caution is recommended.
Passports
A passport is not required of citizens of Canada and the U.S., though it's highly recommended. You can buy a tourist card, which requires a photo ID (such as a driver's license) your airline ticket and a birth certificate or voter's registration card.
How to get there

It's also possible to walk about the city, although it is advised to be careful as not all areas are safe.
