Tomb of Napoleon

Les Invalides is a large and splendid complex of buildings, once home to 6,000 soldiers and veterans. The name is shortened from Hopital des Invalides, since it was originally a hospital. Here, you will find the tomb of Napoleon Bonaparte (1769-1821) and some of his officers. Today, the inside also contains several military-related museums.

The Musee de l'Armee is a military museum covering the Stone Age through World War II.
The Musee de l'Ordre de la Liberation honors the heroes of World War II.
Musee des Plans-Reliefs exhibits French forts and towns.
St-Louis-de-Invalides is the chapel, known as the "soldier's church."

How to get there

Take the Metro to La Tour-Maubourg. Entrance cost 8.50 Euros.

Open every day of the year, except for the first Monday of every month, and January 1st, May 1st, November 1st and December 25th.
Open from 10am to 5pm (5.30pm on sunday), from October 1st to mars 31st,
and from 10am to 6pm (6.30 on sunday), from April 1st to September 30st.
