Coco de Mer

Praslin has been known to be a popular stop for cruise liners and a vacation destination for honeymooners and beach lovers. Anse Lazio is one of the world’s most exquisite, singed with beautiful beaches, wonderful coral reefs and pristine waters. The town is also famous for ‘coco de mer’ palm, which is the world’s largest nut. In town, there are several large resorts that is being developed and soon will be recognized as one of the most exciting place to be when visiting Seychelles.

When in Praslin, one of the must see attractions is the Valle de Mai which is a hidden virgin forest, rich in variety of plants and animal life. This is the only place where you will see thousands of coco de mer palm which is known to be the largest nut in the world. This nut is shaped like a female pelvis and believed to be an aphrodisiac. Valle de Mai is also home to the world’s rarest birds – the black parrot, fruit pigeon and Seychelles bulbul. There are guided tours organized daily. Admission is €15 (adults), children under 12 is free while residents receive concessionary rates.
