Main Attractions:
Kamakhya Temple : The sacred shrine of Goddess Kali is the most important temple of Assam and the main attraction of Guwahati. The temple with bee- hive shaped 'shikaras' is perched on the Nilachal hill and is the fine example of Assamese architecture. It is one of the three most important tantric temples in India.
Nabagraha Temple : The temple of the 'Nine Planets' at the Chitranchal hill is an ancient seat of astrology and astronomy.The lingam inside the shrine is surrounded by nine representations of the planets.
Umananda Temple : The Shiva temple is set on the peacock island in Brahmaputra river can be reached by boat from Umananda Ghat.
Majuli Island : The largest river island of the world is the Majuli Island . It is the center of Vaishnava culture. There are 22 satras, which are regarded as the main centers for Assamese art, dance, drama etc. At the Majuli satras, Lord Vishnu is worshipped through dance and drama. There are plenty of migratory birds of great varieties.
How to get there

Guwahati is connected by air to the major cities of India like Delhi, Kolkata, Imphal, Agartala, Aizawl, Dibrugarh and Jorhat. Delhi and Kolkata are just one and a half hours away from Guwahati.
Rail :
The Paltan Bazaar Railway Station in Guwahati is an important terminus on the North-East Frontier Railway. It is well connected with all the major cities of India.
Road :
Guwahati is the hub of the road network to the north eastern region and to centers west of Assam. The distance between Guwahati and Kolkata is 1151 km and between Darjeeling and Guwahati is 627 km.
