About

A quaint town dating back to the 19th century, built in the British era by Lord Dalhousie. Located at an height of more than 7000 ft. above sea level, the town is enclosed by forest making it a picturesque destination and favorite of tourists. Situated on one of Asia’s largest watersheds, with the Indus and Ganesh rivers on either side, Mashobra is a part of Shimla Reserve Forest Sanctuary and catchment area.

The natural vegetation constitutes forests of Pine, Oak, Cidar, Maple and chestnut trees as that bring lively daubs of shades in contrast with the deep green of the surrounding foliage.

The region is also rich in flora and fauna with monkeys, baboons, jackals, barking deer and the occasional leopard as well as numerous bird species; Himalayan eagles, pheasants among others. An excellent getaway if you are nature aficionado!

Mashobra is connected to the state capital Shimla through the historic Hindustan Tibet road which was built in 1850 by Lord Dalhousie.
