Attractions
Agra has been home to many rulers who left their architectural legacy in the form of many monuments, still standing here. Taj Mahal, the most famous monument in Agra or for that matter, in India, was constructed in 1648 by Moghul emperor Shah Jahan in the memory of his beloved wife Mumtaj Mahal. Taj Mahal is her mausoleum. Made of white marble stone, Taj Mahal reflects the eternal beauty which displays different shades at different times of the day.
Another attraction is the Agra Fort. Constructed from Red Stone, Agra Fort resembles the Red Fort in Delhi. This fort was built in 1571 by Moghal emperor Akbar as assertion of his power. Other attractions are Sikandra (Akbar’s Tomb), Itmad-Ud-Daulah's Tomb, Mariam's Tomb, Jama Masjid, Chini Ka Roza, Swami Bagh Mehtab Bagh and some temples.
While in Agra, do not miss shopping of handicrafts made there. They are exquisite pieces of fine craftsmanship. Another thing which you can relish in Agra is the traditional food offered there.
