Attractions in Haridwar
Har ki Pauri is the one of the main attractions. It is a ghat (steps leading into the water) where devotees take baths in the river Ganga and it is believed to destroy all of your sins. The water of Ganga makes your body pure and fresh. You will also notice many devotees with saffron cloths on the banks of Ganga, mediating and praying. In the evening they perform “Aarti” (prayer of God) on the bank of Ganga, giving a sensation of divine ecstasy. Marigold flowers and Diyas with light hanging on the water of river Ganga give you an amazing feeling.
The two temples Mansa Devi and Chandi Devi are another major attraction in Haridwar, and ropeways are the only medium to get there.
Other attractions tourists can turn to are Anandnayee ashram, Rudraksha temple, Rishikesh, and Dehradun.
Markets in Haridwar are generally packed and very surprisingly most of the tourists come here for religious sustenance and temporary stays. There are many tiny shops in the market for shopping where you will find things related to God and religion. You can enjoy delicious food in Haridwar too as there are plenty of restaurants offering good food at reasonable prices.
Remember to bring some Ganga water in a bottle because it is the best gift from Haridwar and priceless even. Hotels are very cheap here, for as low as $.50 a night.
