Just recently, Valley of Flowers was declared as a world heritage site. Valley of flower is located in Uttaranchal India near Badrinath.

Valley of flowers is splashed with different breathtaking flowers of different kind and majestic colors, situated at an high Himalayan altitude on breathtakingly alpine meadows.

Valley of flowers is not accessible much of the year because this valley is situated at the highest point in the national park in the Zanskar range.

Trekking 17 km is required to reach Valley of Flowers from Ghagaria, but you'll be surrounded with some spectacular views of high peaks. There are many beautiful waterfalls and river flows through the valley between the gorges of mountains. This pure scenic beauty looks so amazing and makes hard to believe for anybody to be there.

You will find wide varieties of flowers in this valley like Geranium, marsh, marigold, trollius, bistorta, codonopsis and many more. Apart from flowers you will find some rare species of birds, butterflies, Himalayan bears and leopards.

This place was unknown for many years -- local people knew about it but not the world. When Frank Smyth wrote a book “valley of flowers” in 1931, this place become famous worldwide and tourists from round the world began to visit to experience the beauty of this place.


How to get there

To reach valley of flowers, the nearest airport is in Dehradun and then you can opt for bus or taxi. Trains are available up to Rishikesh and is directly connected with Delhi. Buses and taxi can be hired to reach valley of flowers from Delhi.
Nearest international airport is in Delhi.
