Castel Sant'Angelo

About

A famous landmark of Rome, the Castel is a cylindrical castle-shaped structure beautifully situated across the river. The fortress was built in 139 AD as a mausoleum for Emperor Hadrian. Inside you'll find prison cells and lavish apartments.

Today, the building has been transformed into the National Museum of Castel Sant'Angelo.

How to get there

Take bus lines 23, 34, or 280.
Alternatively, you can walk -- Rome is not such a big city.
