About

Once the seat of Japanese government before it was formally transferred to Edo, now Tokyo; Kamakura is now one of the most popular destinations in Japan. This seaside town offers a glimpse of traditional and ancient Japanese culture without traveling to Kyoto. Just an hour away from Tokyo by train, Kamakura is very accessible for those who want a quick weekend getaway,

The main attraction of Kamakura is its Great Buddha or Daibutusu that has been around for hundreds of years and triumphed against all calamities. Made of bronze and stands more than 13 feet, it is the second largest Buddha statue in Japan.

Aside from the Great Buddha, there are many old temples, caves and traditional Japanese houses in Kamakura. A sweet treat of the mochi, a Japanese sweet can seal your life-long experience in Kamakura.
