About

Kuala Lumpur is the capital city of Malaysia. It used to boast the tallest building in the world for a few years: the Petronas Twin Towers. The rest of the city centre is a mess of traffic and haphazard city planning. But if you know where to shop and dine, there are many bargains to be found, along with some of the best local cuisines.

Popular tourist attractions in the city:
- Petaling Street, which is the Chinatown here. The entire street fills up with stalls every night selling all sorts of imitation goods and pirated DVDs.
- Bukit Bintang, Sungei Wang is one of the most popular shopping centres.
- Low Yat Plaza, near Sungei Wang too, has the cheapest computer goods and tech products in the country.
- Times Square, nearby as well, has some so so shopping, but more noted for its indoor roller coaster theme park and an IMAX theatre.

How to get there

Flights will enter Malaysia at KLIA (Kuala Lumpur International Airport) which is more than 60km from the city. But there's a light rail that will take you to the KL Sentral train terminal in the city in less than 30min.

But if two or more are travelling together, a cab will be a better option. Cab fares from KLIA is fixed, and costs around MYR100.
