About

Kampar is a quaint town, with 2 main areas, the town itself, and the side towns, known as Bandar Baru Kampar (New Kampar town) which houses the new university.

The town center of Kampar is where all the fun is. Kampar is a heaven of food, mostly Chinese, with mixes of Indian and Muslim food.
The great things about the food here is that they are really really tasty compared to other areas.

In the market area, a stall sells rice noodles with fishball at a low price and there are customers lining up every singl morning. Next to try would be the "Kopi O", local version of decaffe. It's good, seriously.

Kampar is also very famous foe their "chicken biscuit" , a type of thin hard yet crispy biscuit. A bit of sesame oil is added with some spice. It's non-halal though most of the time. The halal one ain't as good as te original.

Another specialty food here is "Chi pau kai" In cantonese, or newspaper wrapped chicken. This chicken is actually a whole chicken boiled in wrapped old papers. The chicken is boiled with many herbs and spices that everything is absorbed into the chicken. The paper softens the chicken actally , giving you a nice soft, smooth chicken that has many delicious taste in a bite!!!

Attraction wise, Kampar has a small waterfall in a residential area on the foothills named Taman Kampar Jaya (Jyous Kampar Garden). The waterfall is very small, yet secluded enough to be pure nad not disturbed. It is about 10 minutes walk from a trail near a house in the resdential area. It leads to a small yet beautiful waterfall where some families spend their time picnicking there.

Kampar has also many old mines to show, especially on route to Gopeng/ Mambang Diawan. Apart from that, at the town itself, there's a mine that has been converted into a lake. No swimming though!!!! :)

All in all, Kampar is famous for their food. Apart from Ipoh Perak, which is famous for their "taugeh chicken rice" and "fried Kuey teow", Kampar has other good food in Perak.
