About
Miri is famous for having four world class national parks that you can visit when you get a chance to stay in town.
Mount Mulu National Park - is famous for its limestone karst formations both above ground and underground. The massive cave systems, which contain the 12 million cubic meter Sarawak Chamber (the world's largest), are still in the process of being mapped. Clearwater Cave at 151 km (Feb 2007) is the 10th longest cave in the world.
Niah National Park - The cave is an important prehistorical site where human remains dating to 40,000 years have been found.
Lambir Hills National Park - It is a small park, composed largely of mixed dipterocarp forest. This forest contains birds and small mammal species, but large mammals such as gibbon and sun bear are absent or very rare due to the size of the forest and illegal hunting.
Loagan Bunut National Park - contains the largest natural lake in Sarawak.
Aside from the national parks you can visit, try also these places:
1. Lotus Hill Taoist Temple - is located in the Krokop suburbs and the largest Taoist temple in Asia.
2. Beaches - perfect for those who wants to enjoy the sun and bathe with their loved ones. You can choose from some of the popular beaches that include Tanjong Lobang Beach (Taman Selera), Luak Esplanade, Hawaii Beach, Bekenu-Sibuti Beach, Marina Park, Lutong Beach.
