About

The Forest Research Institute of Malaysia (FRIM) promotes sustainable management and optimal use of forest resources in Malaysia. It also has a hiking trail that attracts visitors who want to get close to nature. Along the trail, you can observe a great variety of flora and fauna. It is a popular destination for amateur photographers who are interested in macro photography.

The highlight is the 200m canopy walk. It's a narrow, single-plank wide platform suspended on a rope bridge 30m above the ground. It may be challenging for those with vertigo, but won't be a problem for most.

They also have chalets for rent for those who want to spend the night there, and tackle the trail early in the morning.

Entering the park is very cheap. But if you are carrying an SLR camera, there is a MYR 100 charge. This is because FRIM has become a popular site for newly weds to do their wedding photos. Since these photo studios are commercially exploiting their grounds, FRIM decided they should get their cut.

How to get there

It is not accessible by public transportation. There's no choice but to take a cab here.

But you can take the KTM Kommuter train from KL Sentral station and alight at the KTM Kepong station. It is still about 4km from the entrance of FRIM, but you can catch a cab at the station.
