Guadalajara is the capital of Mexico and the second most populous city with the population of 1.5 million. Guadalajara is also known as Mexico's Silicon Valley due to its strong electronics industry, and is also considered Mexico's high tech capital due to its leadership in software and informatics development.

As one of the ten largest cities in Latin America, Mexico serves as a favourite tourist’s destination to many. Below is the list of places you must see in Mexico.

1. Guadalajara Cathedral which is also known as the Cathedral of the Assumption of our Lady is a Roman Catholic cathedral which is built with Renaissance style and neo-gothic towers.

2. Jardines del Bosque is a small barrio located on the western part of the city.

3. Museau Regional de Guadalajara was built in 1701. In 1981 it became a museum where you can explore pre-Columbian history through the Spanish Conquest. The museum is located in Calle LIceo60, Centro Historico. Admission is $3 and they are open every Tuesday-Saturday from 9am-5:30pm and 9am-4:30pm on Sundays.

4. Agua Caliente is located at Km 56 on the Carretera a Barra de Navidad. The water park has several pools where you can play. They have the famous wave pool and water slides which could be enjoyed by kids and young at heart.

5. Lake Chapala is close by the city. Perfect for relaxing and drinking coffee.

6. Puerto Chapala is about 4 ½ hours away by bus. This is a nice beach destination for families and tourists in Guadalajara.

Aside from visiting places, you can also enjoy Guadalajara’s fine cuisine. Taste their authentic enchiladas and tortillas. Tacos and many many more!


How to get there

The city is served by Don Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla International Airport or better known as the Guadalajara International Airport is 16 kilometres away south of Guadalajara. There are international flights from all over the world that arrives daily in the airport.

Around the town, there are buses and taxis ready to help you out in making your stay and travel hassle free in Guadalajara.
