About
Yangon is a pagoda heaven. There are many pagodas that you can visit, you can refer to the list below for your guide:
* Sule Pagoda - landmark in downtown area
* Botataung Pagoda - famous for being the house of the Hair and two Buddha relics
* Kaba Aye Pagoda - the name of the pagoda means "World Peace" and it is true that when you come inside the pagoda, you will feel silence and calmness like what others say.
* Mahapasana Cave - this is the place where you will see the 72 meter long reclining Buddha which is one of the largest in Myanmar.
Aside from the breath taking pagodas, there are many colonial style buildings in Yangon that are still standing. These buildings are now being occupied by the government and serves as offices.
One of their most striking site is the City Hall which has an impressive stone structure integrated with the local country's touch. If you're around the town take time to visit the General Post Office, Strand Hotel, Port Authority Building and the Railway Administrative Building for they possess a magnificent remembrance of the old ages. The City Hall is one of the grandest, an impressive stone structure with classical colonial style and integrated with a Myanmar touch. The Supreme Court, High Court, General Post Office, Strand Hotel, Port Authority Building, Custom House and Railway Administrative Building are also magnificent remembrances of the bygone era.
Despite of the fast changing pace in Myanmar, Yangon still manages to preserve it's natural and historic beauty. People are warm and friendly though a bit shy specially when they encounter foreigners in town. This place will make you feel comfortable and enjoy the scenic attractions at low cost.
