Katmandu is situated at an altitude of 4400 feets above sea levels in the foothills of Himalayas and capital of Nepal. It is one of the most beautiful cities in Asia and popular hill station among tourists visiting India or Nepal. It was declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1979.

Places to Visit
A visit to Pashupati Nath Temple is a must if you are in Nepal. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and situated at the bank of the river Bhagmati.

You can also visit Pokhra, around 200 km from Katmandu. Annapurna range of Himalayas with breath-taking views of snow clad mountains and kirtipur some 8 km from Katmandu for some old shrines and basic Nepali Traditions.

Best time to visit
The best season to visit Katmandu is April-May and October to November because you can enjoy a clear weather and again this is the best time for trekking activities.

Currency
One very important thing about Nepal, you can use Dollars, Indian Rupees, Nepali currency, Euro, Pounds across Nepal. Any shop or hotel will not deny accepting these currencies.

Transport and Visa
There are no train services in Nepal; you have to travel through buses, taxies or plane. Anybody can freely move from India to Nepal without visa formalities according to a treaty between India and Nepal. You can obtain visa on the airport itself.


Katmandu is well connected by air with all major airports in the world so just contact your travel agents for more information on timings or fares. Internally Katmandu is well connected with buses and taxies to all destinations in Nepal.
