About

Granada is considered the mecca of tourist seeking the history, colonial architecture, and cultural attractions that the place has to offer. The 1st thing you need to do is to go to the central park which is the city social gathering center and the perfect place to buy a souvenir or enjoy lunch or sip a local rum or even a coffee. Just next to the park is Calle La Calzada, a famous streets full of restraurants, hotels, and coffee places.

Granada is known for the laid back attitudes of its residents, so it’s no wonder that the people have so much fun in bars. El Club is on of the most popular places to go dancing and drinking and right next to this place there are many bars that you can visit on the same night.

In mid-August, there’s a spectacular festival called Hipica. During this festival you can hear live music, eat the local cuisine and enjoy the parade of horses and performers.

Other things you can do in Granada are:

1. Shopping and dining in picturesque places.

2. Tours to explore the beaches and the volcanoes.

3. Taking a Mombacho canopy tour that includes a trip to a coffee farm, a horse-back ride, and a bird-watching tour where you'll see hundreds of different species of birds such as the parakeet and toucan.

4. Visisting the Lake Nicaragua which is right next to town and also visisting the Isletas which are small islands formed thousands of years ago when the Mombacho Volcano erupted, spewing out huge rocks that formed islands right off of Granada. You can take a bote ride to the islets and enjoy the fantastic view of rare animals and the massive lake.

The immediate reaction of most people experiencing Granada travel is how relaxed the pace of life is in the city. You will see people from all walks of life strolling the palm-tree-lined streets and children playing in the cobblestone squares. Residents of Granada are extremely friendly and welcoming, so feel free to learn more about the history of Nicaragua and Granada by engaging in a conversation with the locals.
