The city of Ocotal is in Nueva Segovia which is a department of Nicaragua, well-known for its beautiful landscapes. Because it’s near the Coco River, you can find the most amazing scenery, where you can spend a relaxing time.

The city is surrounded by mountains and the main activities for the economy there are agriculture, cattle ranching and coffee growing.

If you are visiting the city, some of the main entertainment activities available are:
1. Bicycle riding. The views are stunning and the roads are ok. You can go through the coffe plantations and the pine forest of go bt the waters of the river.
2. Have dinners at the local restaurants and have a delicious meal.
3. There’s also two clubs to go dancing at night.
4. Climb on the many mountains there.

The best time to visit Ocotal is in August, so you can be part of the local festivals, but you can also visit during independence day on the middle of September, new years and Easter week, which are days marked by awesome celebrations.


To get there you can take a bust which will cost you less than $4, or you can also take a car down the panamerican hwy going to Honduras. The city is like 13 miles away from the border.
