About
Some of the thing you can do while you’re there are:
Enjoy the beaches
One of the most popular ones is San Juan del Sur, a growing fishing village that attracts the locals and the tourists especially during Christmas, when the town celebrates with events and festivals of dancing, drinking and eating the local cuisine. You may want to visit the port also for shopping souvenirs.
Go shopping
There are local markets and tourist shops everywhere.
Visit La Flor Wildlife Reserve
The reserve is one of the main attractions of the area because of the breeding of Olive Ridley turtles, where you can learn about the turtles and also enjoy the many water activities.
Visit the town cemetery
Learn about the country’s history by viewing the gravesites of famous people in the country. The area where most of these famous people were put to rest is named the Hill of Carazo.
Visit the Museum of Anthropology and History
See artifacts from the pre-Columbian era, and historical paintings as well as historical documents of the country’s past.
Take a walk down the streets of the town
Enjoy the deeply rooted colonialism that predefines most of the county’s cities. Visit the churches which are major attractions due to the beauty of its construction.
Take a canopy tour through the rainforest
Enjoy the lush foliage whiz.
Rivas is a growing city where you can find many luxury hotels and many facilities to the tourist due to the relatively inexpensive real state. The city is just 30 minutes away from the Costa Rican border.
Since there are many activities to enjoy in Rivas, you should take a couple of days to enjoy at least a part of the town. The weather is hot during the day and very nice during night. The locals are very friendly and safe, but beware of some dangerous streets during the night so I don’t recommend taking a walk at night.
The city has a lot of beaches where you can fish, swim and do all kind of water activities. Some of these beaches are famous for the surfing tournaments.
Be sure to take comfortable clothes from swimming gear to sports gear.
How to get there

Olive Ridley turtles
My best advice is to rent a four wheel drive, because some of the road to get to the most beautiful beaches of the city is gravel, but if you don't you can easily have access to San Juan del Sur beach, Granada, Managua and even the Costa Rican Border by bus.
