The beauty of Pagsanjan Falls

One of the most famous waterfalls in the Philippines is Pagsanjan. Often mistaken to be situated in Pagsanjan, Laguna, this waterfall is actually in a nearby town – Cavinti. The enchanting beauty of this place fascinates not only locals but expatriates as well. One of the scenes in the movie Apocalypse Now was filmed here in 1979.

There is a thrilling and extremely wet, boat trip up the rapids to Pagsanjan Falls. Along the boat ride, one will usually see monkeys in the riverbanks, trying to throw something to the boat riders. Expect your boat to pass strong currents and huge stones as well. Get extremely wet by renting a bamboo raft, to go behind the waterfall, a natural way to have a soothing back massage. A one of a kind experience that will surely make you scream!

See how skillfully the boatmen maneuvers the boat between the rocks on your journey back down the canyon, dubbed by visitors as “shooting the rapids”.


Best reached via the South Luzon Expressway. After Canlubang Exit, go around the cloverleaf to reach Calamba. From Calamba, follow the provincial road passing Los Banos, Bay, Victoria, Pila, Sta. Cruz and finally Pagsanjan.

The boatride fee goes at Php 600 ($11) per passenger for a maximum of three passengers per boat. A single passenger would have to pay the fees for two passengers.

PhP35 ($0.75) entrance tickets shall be obtained beforehand from the Pagsanjan Municipal Hall.
