About

Vigan, Ilocos Sur is one of the famous places in the Philippines for being the only surviving colonial town in the country. It contains 180 administrative and religious structures, ancestral houses, and landmarks built in the 18th and 19th century. The town still features Spanish houses built from the Spanish era.

Some popular attractions include riding horse carriages about town, and learning about pottery. In addition, Vigan features beaches and rivers for swimming.

Food lovers will find a wide variety of cuisine and romantic dinner spots. Most of the ancestral houses have been renovated into restaurants. Sample mouthwatering seafood and local sausages in a renaissance-style atmosphere.

How to get there

From Metro Manila, Vigan can be reached in 7 hours by bus. There are 3 bus rides that will regularly go to Vigan – Manila, namely the Philippine Rabbit, Partas Bus Company, and Dominion. The trip is quite long. However, the Ilocos highway is quite scenic.

Alternatively, Philippine Airlines offers flights to Laog (also in Ilocos Sur) three times a week. From Laog International Airport, you can drive into Vigan in 90 minutes.
