Caixa Forum, Madrid

About

Caixa Forum is an urban magnet, not only for art lovers but also for the building itself as the building is lifted from the ground and appears to be floating. This allows the museum to have nice outdoor space around the entrance even when the location is tight and surrounded by many buildings.

The museum house was once a power station and the bricks used are reminiscences of the early industrial age in Madrid. It is interesting to see the 24 meter high vertical garden in one of the walls of the square in front of the museum

Exhibit rooms have a loft-like character and on the top floor the restaurant and offices can be found. Program includes music, literature, film, and social educational programs.
