About

Construction works started in 1993 following the project by Frank O. Gehry. The building itself is a master piece made out of steel, stone, titanium and water. It opened in 1997 with a total of 24.000 m2 (more than 11.000 m2 exhibit space).

The Guggenheim, Bilbao has a mission: to gather the most representative art of our time, support artistic education and improve the publics knowledge. It is part of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation.

Permanent exhibits include works of the most important artists in the last four decades. Temporal exhibits often include Pop Art, Minimalism, Conceptual Art, Abstract Expressionism, etc. The museum is home to some works created specially for the Guggenheim, Bilbao. Basque and Spanish contemporary art are also part of this great museum.

Open Monday only during July and August

Bus lines 1, 10, 11, 13, 18, 27, 38, 48 and 71.
Metro stop MoyĂșa.
Euskotran stop Guggenheim.

Admission fee 13.00 EUR
Reduced prices for students and elderly.
