Swimming and other water sports are not the only activities you can do while staying in Phuket. There's plenty that you can experience like the visiting Wat Chalong, which is Phuket's most important temple and visited by thousands each year. You can also watch Muay Thai live in Saphan Hin Stadium. There are regular matches where you can see the skills and dexterity of the super-fit fighters. If you're a faint heart then maybe it's better to see the Old Phuket Town which offers excellent restaurants and local sights.
Getting around the town is easy because there's public transportation everywhere. There are local-bus services between town and tourist beaches. Local buses leave for the beaches at the market on Ranong Road at half-hour intervals until 6 p.m. After that, you must hire a taxi. Bus fares range from 25-35 baht.
