Half Moon Bay

Half moon bay is a terrific coast-side to spend a half-day. There are good fish sandwiches and clam chowder restaurants.

There are beautiful trees for a nice walk on the hill near Pillar Point. You can also take your dog for a run here. Hike up the hill for a panoramic view of the area (look for the white sphere in the mountains for the hiking area. The white sphere is actually a large antennae or scientific structure)


Bring a car and drive along the coast. There are several spots (going from South to North...):

1. Sam's chowder house. It's often crowded and has good food.

2. Pillar Point harbor. Some restaurants, boats, and fishermen.

3. Beach park, popular for runs with dogs. You'll see a mountain there with a "white sphere" structure. You can either go towards the beach, or hike up the hill for some panoramic views.

4. Continue driving North past the beach park towards sort of a hidden wildlife refuge area. It's a nice beach and you can hike up the hills to a beautiful grove of cedar trees.
