About
Below are the must see places in Maui.
1. Hana Highway – the most is the most popular tourist attraction in Maui.
2. Haleakala National Park – a dormant volcano which erupted way back in 1790. Each morning, visitors come to the summit of the volcano to watch the spectacular sunrise. More visitors come each afternoon to watch the equally amazing sunset. One attraction of the park is Hosmer's Grove, a unique forest of alien trees including deodar (Cedrus deodara) from the Himalayas, sugi (Cryptomeria japonica) from Japan, eucalyptus from Australia, and several species from North America (pine, spruce, cypress, fir, and others). Native plants and trees are also present in the forest but are not very common due to the little light available (because of the taller alien trees). The park is known for its unique volcanic features, its long scenic drive with numerous overlooks, and the unusually clear views of the night sky available.
3. Lahaina - the capital of the Kingdom of the Hawaiian Islands from 1820 to 1845. It is one of the main attractions on the island with an entire street of shops and restaurants which lead to a wharf where many set out for a sunset cruise or whale watching journey. Snorkeling can be done at almost any beach along the Maui coast.
Maui displays a unique and diverse set of climatic conditions, each of which is specific to a loosely defined sub-region of the island.
How to get there
* Kahului Airport in central Maui
* Kapalua Airport in western Maui
* Hana Airport in eastern Maui
The Maui Public Bus Transit System is a county-funded program that provides transportation around the island with fares ranging from complimentary to $1 per boarding.
