Around Waikiki you can enjoy the beauty of a small paradise, gifted with nature’s rich resources.
Places you can visit in Waikiki.
1. Kapiolani Park – a public park at the east end of Waikiki which houses the Waikiki Shell and Honolulu Zoo. If you cross the road, you will find the famous Waikiki Aquarium.
2. Honolulu Zoo – located at the corner of Kapahulu and Kalakaua Blvd. This is a treat for kids who love animals as they have a lot of exotic animals. They even have elephants, rhinos and lions. Admission is $8 for adults and $1 for children. If you’re 5 years below, you can get a free access and family pass is available at $25. Open daily from 9am-4:30pm. 3. Waikiki Aquarium – known to be the 3rd oldest aquarium in US where it houses hundreds of marine species from Hawaii and the Pacific. Admission is $9/adults, $4/teens, $2/children and less than 5 years old are free. They are open daily except on Christmas Day from 9am-4:30pm. For more information, call +1 808 923 9741.
4. Diamond Head Crater – there is an observation deck overlooking the Pacific, displaying breathtaking views.
5. Na Hoku II – just in front of the Outrigger Waikiki Hotel, you will find a place where they offer sailing. You only have to pay $30 for a 90 minutes sail and you can enjoy the sea with non-stop booze. Spectacular experience.
On the beach near Waikiki, many tourists come to view the movie on an outdoor 30 foot screen. They call it the Sunset on the beach and it’s free of charge. Surfers also consider Waikiki their first choice, especially if you’re a beginner. There are several places that you can rent boats and hire lessons right on the beach though their prices varies. The traditional luaus and hula shows are familiar too in Waikiki. A must see if you’re a first timer.
How to get there
Navigating the town would be easy as there are systematised routes of buses and trains for the people. Taxis are regulated.
