Location and Climate
Entebbe is located on the northern banks of Lake Victoria which is the second largest fresh water lake in the world. One of the cleanest and environment friendly places in Africa, Entebbe is located at a distance of 40km from Kampala, the national capital of Uganda.
The climate of Entebbe is very pleasant though it is near to the equator. It is blessed with rainfalls most of the times due to proximity to Lake Victoria. It is most of the times cloudy in the sky and great weather.
Attractions
Though Entebbe is not like other great tourist locations, it still has its own attractions in the form of scenic splendor. Entebbe is best known as the location of game sanctuary. Some of the most popular tourist attractions are Ugandan Wildlife Education Center, Botanical Gardens and many beaches along the Lake Victoria.
Ugandan Wildlife Education Centre is a zoo and research centre. It is home to many rare species of animals like rhinos, buffaloes, lions, crocodiles and others. Botanical gardens in Entebbe, located near the Ugandan Wildlife Education Centre, are a great place for nature lovers, forest walkers and birdwatchers. An amazing variety of flora and fauna is a great attraction here. Black and white monkeys and squirrels there would definitely entertain you.
Lovely beaches of Lake Victoria are favorites among tourists and locals alike. At these beaches, you can enjoy some exciting water sports. Also if you love swimming, tranquil waters of Lake Victoria are great. Do not miss a visit to Sesse Islands on Lake Victoria.
There are many other great activities to do at Entebbe. Whether you are a naïve or pro Golfer, you have great opportunity to play golf at Garuga Golf Course. Entebbe is also well connected by road to other nearby cities in Uganda. You can hire private taxis or minibus called Matatu.
