Old Harry Rocks, Dorset

About

Between Studland Beaches and the town of Swanage, Old Harry Rocks are chalk stacks visible from most of Poole bay. Legend has it that the Stacks are named after a famous pirate from the nearby town of Poole, who, being one of very few who dared to sail near them, used to store his contraband nearby.

They are are great location for walkers, as many of the areas walks feature these rocks are a vantage point over the surrounding area. Also, nearby are some of the areas finest pubs, serving locally brewed ales and home cooked food.


How to get there

By foot is the only way. Walk from Shell Bay across the beaches and through the small village of Studland, or from Swanage head North East along the coastal path.
