About

One of the best museums in the world, the British Museum holds a treasure chest of historical artifacts collected from all over the world as England colonized and conquered. Best of all, it's free.

The museum's architecture in itself is magnificent, with a glass-dome ceiling and marble walls. Highlights include:

Rosetta Stone - World-famous and essential to the decoding of the Egyptian hieroglyphics.

The Elgin Marbles - Greek sculptures that originally belonged on the Parthenon and other buildings on the Acropolis, Athens.

Hoa Hakananai'a - One of the Easter Island heads! It was removed by an English ship from Easter Island in the mid 1800s.

Ramses II Bust - The Egyptian section of the museum is world-class. You will love it.

The museum should be one of your top destinations on a trip to London.

How to get there

British Museum, Greater London
Entry is free. The museum is open daily 10:00-17:00.

The museum is actually a little hard to find, as it's in the middle of some small alleyways. Just ask someone if you're lost -- it's not very far from the tube stations.
The museum is in the center of 4 tube stations, so take your pick: Holborn, Tottenham, Russel Square, or Goodge street.
