About
The Queen's House was originally created as a royal palace for Anne of Denmark, wife of Jams the First. A story tells that when Anne accidentally shot one of James' hunting dogs, he swore at her in public -- the house was a gift to her of apology for swearing.
After restoration in the 1980s, today, the House is part of the National Maritime Museum. Some of the furniture and paintings now in the building are original seventeenth century pieces.
Its architecture is quite interesting to see, unique even for its time and representing a shift in building style. Make the House part of your itinerary to the Greenwich Prime Meridian.
How to get there
You can take ferries to Greenwich. See the London Transport site for timetables.
You can also take the DLR (Docklands Light Railway) from London (Bank) or Tower towards Cutty Sark station. Then it's a short walk.
