About

Unesco World Heritage site Westminster Abbey is an ornate gothic church adjacent to Big Ben clocktower, and home to treasured paintings, stained glass, tapestries, and statues. It is a royal cathedral site for coronations and burials, including the funeral for Princess Diana.

Every year, the Abbey welcomes over a million visitors to its 700 year old halls. The Abbey has been the coronation church since 1066 and is the final resting place of seventeen monarchs.

Another cathedral worth visiting in London is St. Paul's Cathedral.


How to get there

Westminster Abbey, Greater London
The Abbey is open 9:30am to 3:30pm. It closes quite early, as you can see so get there early. Some days, there are 10-20 minute lines to get in. Cost is 15 pounds.

Take the Tube to Westminster station or St. James Park station. Then walk towards the ornate cathedral - you can't miss it!
