Burley, New Forest, Hampshire

About

A picturesque village in the heart of Britain's newest national park. Burley is a very popular destination with many art galleries, tea rooms, and gift shops where you can buy locally produced new forest ice cream, fudge and cider (among many other things!)

A great place to visit if you are into walking, horseriding or cycling, as the town acts as a hub for many marked footpaths around the new forest. On some of these paths you may be delighted to stumble upon Burley Manor, or Burley Castle, two beautiful ancient buildings restored and maintained for the public to enjoy.

Among the thatched cottages of Burley it is not unusual to find ponies and cattle freely roaming the village. Nor would it be surprising to find other somewhat uncommon activity, as Burley has long been associated with witches and the supernatural.

How to get there

From Bournemouth take the A35 towards Lyndhurst, and follow the signposts.

From Ringwood or Southampton follow the M27/A31 and follow the signposts, or take the number 35 bus.
