About

A rare and beautifully unspoilt gem, Brownsea is the largest of the islands of Poole Harbour. Protected by The National Trust (heritage and conservation body) Brownsea is home to wildlife unique to the region, including red squirrels, peacocks and sika deer.

The island is reputed to be the birthplace for scouting and guiding in the UK, where Lord Baden-Powell led the first scout camp in 1907. As such, many outdoor persuits can be undertaken on the island as part of the outdoor centre.

Accomodation on the island includes a 24 bed hostel, a campsite and a holiday cottage just 3 meters from the sea.


How to get there

By ferry from Sandbanks, Bournemouth Pier or Poole Quay.
