The Vatican Museums houses one of the world's greatest collections of Renaissance art. Expect long lines, but this is truly a worthwhile visit.

Highlights include:
SistineChapel - Michelangelo's most famous work and masterpiece, the Sistine Chapel is a large room with beautifully painted ceilings depicting the Old and New Testaments.
Gallery of Maps - A beautiful record of 16-th century cartography.
Raphael Rooms - A series of frescoes painted by Raphael at the commission of the Pope.


How to get there

Hours: 9am to 4pm daily except Sundays.
Tickets cost 14 Euros.

Metro Line A, Direction Battistini, Stations: Ottaviano-S. Pietro-Musei Vaticani; Cipro (from both stations 10 minutes walk).
